Words from the Parents

β€œI would highly recommend Walking the Dog to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog walking service. I have been using their service for the past 12 months, and I have been very happy with the results.

Alexia, my dog walker, is always on time and she takes great care of my pooch, Laika. She always walks her for at least an hour, and she always takes her to different parks and trails. Laika loves going on walks with Alexia, and she always comes home tired and happy.

I also appreciate that Alexia sends me updates about Laika's walks. She always tells me what they did on their walk, and how Laika was behaving. This gives me peace of mind knowing that Laika is in very good hands.

I am so happy with Walking the Dog and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a dog walking service in the Inner North area”

- Kirsty

β€œWe started using this service out of necessity as my partner was injured and we were unable to take our Hungarian Vizsla, Alby out for his usual daily walk.

He is now back to full health but the Walking adventures have continued as he ABSOLUTELY LOVES it and quite literally cries when he hears Lex arrive.

We can relax knowing he is in extremely safe hands and having a fabulous time out in nature and socialising with the other dogs, and always comes home exhausted and happy.

The pick up and drop off service is also very convenient. Highly recommend!”

- Carly

β€œWe all know that trusting someone with your furbabies is a big deal.

I cannot speak highly enough about Alexia. Apart from being efficient and reliable she truly cares for the dogs she looks after. Kenny and Kevin just love her- they come home from their time with her exhausted and so happy and are so excited to see her!

Best thing you can do for your pooches and yourself is to have Alexia walk your dogs!”

Frequently Asked Questions

Which areas do you Service?

I pick up dogs primarily within about 10 minutes drive from my home in Brunswick. Generally this is limited to Brunswick, Brunswick West, and Brunswick East. Please contact Alexia if you are not within this area, but are not too far away.

Do we need to meet up before you walk or sit my dog?

I ideally like to meet your dog before our first walk so they will feel comfortable coming out with me. At our meeting you can tell me more about your dog’s personality, their history, known commands and level of recall etc. If it’s not practical to set up a face to face meeting however, we can arrange a time to chat on the phone.

How does group dog walking work?

I consider your pooch’s personality, size and behaviours, then match them with likeminded playmates I think they'll love. I schedule dogs into group sessions based on their personalities and locations. I’ll collect your dog from home, take them on an adventure and return them home afterwards. I also post to our Instagram so you can see what your pups been up to!

Does my dog need to be trained?

Your dog doesn't need to be completely trained, but they need some basic obedience and social skills. Most dogs are walked largely off-leash, usually in local parks, around other dog owners and people. For everyone’s safety, I am mindful to only bring dogs with the following skills into this environment:

  • Off-leash recall (i.e. they return on command)

  • Walking well on leash (some excited pulling can be managed but this can't be extreme)

  • Basic dog socialisation manners, such as greeting other dogs nicely

  • Basic human interaction manners (e.g. minimal jumping up on people)

If you’re not sure your pooch has these skills please contact Alexia to chat about options for them.
